If you've seen a shampoo that arrives as a powder and wondered whether it can really replace your usual bottle, you're not alone. Here's a plain comparison of powder-to-liquid and classic liquid shampoo.

What is powder-to-liquid shampoo?
It's a shampoo formulated without water. You receive the active ingredients as a powder in a paper sachet. At home, you pour a little water into a refillable bottle, add the powder, then top up with the rest of the water (adding the water first keeps the powder from sticking to the bottom). Shake, and let it sit for 15 minutes. The ingredients blend and the final gel texture forms. From then on, it behaves like any liquid shampoo.
At less is more, one 25 g sachet makes 250 ml of finished shampoo.

How is it different from dry shampoo?
It isn't dry shampoo. Dry shampoo is a powder or spray you apply to dry hair between washes. Powder-to-liquid shampoo is a full wash: once activated with water, it lathers and rinses like a classic shampoo.
Powder vs liquid: the comparison
| Classic liquid shampoo | Powder-to-liquid shampoo | |
|---|---|---|
| What's in the bottle | Most liquid products are 80–90% water | Concentrated ingredients, no added water |
| Shipping | Water adds weight and volume | Lighter, more compact refills |
| Packaging | A new plastic bottle each time | One reusable bottle, paper sachet refills |
| Using it | Ready to use | Activate once, then use as normal |
| Performance | Cleanses and lathers | The same function: cleanses, lathers, rinses |
Does it work as well as a liquid shampoo?
Yes. The difference is in the way the product is designed, not in how well it cleans. Once activated, a powder shampoo does the same job as a classic liquid one: it cleanses, foams, and respects the balance of the scalp. Ours has a skin-neutral pH of about 5.5 to help preserve the skin barrier. We put our budget into the quality of the ingredients instead of oversized packaging.
How long does a bottle last?
A 250 ml bottle gives about 50 uses, around a month and a half depending on how often you wash. A 500 ml bottle lasts about twice as long.
Which powder shampoo is right for my hair?
- Oily hair: Purifying shampoo, with rhassoul clay and white clay.
- Dry, coloured or curly hair: Softening shampoo, with organic argan oil and organic oat.
- Dull, lifeless hair: Revitalizing shampoo, with goji berry and acerola.
- Dandruff-prone hair: Anti-dandruff shampoo, with piroctone olamine and zinc gluconate.

Frequently asked questions
Is powder shampoo the same as dry shampoo?
No. Powder-to-liquid shampoo is a full wash that you activate with water before use. Dry shampoo is used on dry hair between washes.
How do I use powder shampoo?
Pour a little water into a refillable bottle, add the powder, then add the rest of the water. Adding water first keeps the powder from settling at the bottom. Shake, wait 15 minutes, and use it like any liquid shampoo.
Can I travel with it?
Yes, and it's one of the biggest advantages of powder. You can pack the empty bottle and the thin, light sachet, and activate it when you arrive. For trips, our travel kit includes a softening shampoo and a refreshing shower gel [basil + lemon] in travel size: 10 g of powder each, to mix in a 100 ml reusable bottle. It fits in hand luggage and lasts about two weeks of washes. Just add water once you've arrived.
Where is less is more made?
In France, in Brittany.
